La Dee Da Art Studio offers one-of-a-kind art education summer camps taught by trained professionals in an inviting group environment. Camp programming caters to children 3-12 years old.
What do American Girl Doll® Camps, Woodworking, and Fashion Shows all have in common? They’re all part of the highly-curated artistic programming on offer at La Dee Da’s art camps this summer!
Founded by a Mom with a Mission
Soon after Creative Director Sugandha Rosenhaft had her first child, she realized that though there were plenty of daycare options available (and even some so-called “art camps”), there wasn’t a place for children to transcend from crayons and coloring books to meaningful artistic experiences with art education taught by true creative professionals.
Shortly thereafter, La Dee Da was born with equal parts serious business and calculated whimsy.
The organization’s mission is quite simple: to engage, inspire, and teach art with age-appropriate techniques and curriculum. “As young artists realize their successes”, says Rosenhaft, “they become more willing to try out new ideas and become more self-assured. The process of expressing artistic vision helps build self-esteem and learning skills in young children.”
What keeps parents happy and kids coming back? According to Rosenhaft,
“We’ve created a welcoming home away from home in our space, which has been transformed from an actual home into something quite magical! Each room has been designed to spark creativity and imagination. We also take great pride in the environment we have created at La Dee Da. It’s important for both my staff and I to get to know each child on an individual basis, making sure they are progressing at their own pace, and getting plenty of individual attention.”
Specialty Art Summer Day Camps – Spots Going Fast
La Dee Da’s specialty art day camps, in particular, have rapidly grown in popularity in the greater Sandy Springs area and beyond— Hollywood stars filming in Atlanta along with children of star athletes have been known to sign up their children for La Dee Da’s creative programs!
All of this interest, of course, has resulted in increased demand for a limited number of spots. To compensate, La Dee Da has increased the number of camp programs to 17 weeks this summer and opening up the age limit to include children 7+. By making use of the neighboring Lake Forest Elementary School’s Art Space, La Dee Da is now offering 4 additional weeks in the month of June, designed specifically for children interested in more advanced curriculum.
Given an influx of interested parents and La Dee Da’s growing popularity summer camp spots are in high demand and going fast, so Register Now before spots are sold out!
Asked why her specialty art camps are so popular with parents, Rosenhaft explains,
“We’re not competing with big day camps like the JCC or In The City or overnight options like Barney or Blue Star. We offer a flexible option for parents and allow children an opportunity to become fully immersed in specialized premium programs that took us months to research and develop. We give our students individual attention and teach them to properly use tools like sewing machines and pottery wheels. Art education isn’t about ‘boxed projects’ available at any craft or hobby store. It’s about letting kids explore and create process-driven art with real materials and actual instruction. As a Mom myself, I really want to instill a sense of pride in young children that will lead to spurring confidence at an early age. I love to see the look on their faces when they’ve created something challenging!”
A Touch of (Art) Class
It’s not easy dropping your kids off someplace then going about your day, especially the first time. La Dee Da goes to great lengths to make sure that important step is as easy and positive as possible for both parent and child. Class sizes are small by design, and instructors are young adults that are passionate about teaching and the overall welfare of children. Safety is also of utmost importance and staff members are CPR & First-Aid certified.
La Dee Da’s camps are an experience like no other. From delightful fashion shows, to beautiful art portfolios and creative take-home photos and videos, parents really get to see and feel the energy and fun their kids are having. Projects the campers bring home each week are professionally assembled and mounted or even displayed in frames. All works that you would be proud to display in your own home!
Adds Rosenhaft, “No one’s ever ‘just another camper’ here at La Dee Da. Each camp group has its own lead instructor who has a Masters in Fine Arts or is an experienced Teacher, plus a team of 2-3 assistants helping students. Our curriculum is also designed appropriately, so children don’t feel overwhelmed. It is the emphasis on quality over quantity what makes us so special.”
It is also important for children to be able to get fresh air and play time throughout their camp day. The fully fenced in play area, indoor playground with a tree house and twisty slide, along with a stage and dress-up clothes provide children with plenty of exercise and creative play!
