Instructor: Lauren Woody

Dates: March 9 – May 4 (no class April 6, Spring Break); 8 weeks

Handbuilding is a way to work with clay without using the pottery wheel – instead we will use techniques with coils, slabs or pinching the clay to make functional and sculptural work. We will also use equipment like rolling pins and slab rollers to start the process, using more clay to embellish and decorate our work. Pieces will not be fired, but spray glazed instead. Cost includes all materials.
Learning Objectives:
- Slab building
- Coil Method
- Pinch Method
- Modeling
COVID Policy: We will be hosting each class with safety precautions in place due to COVID-19. Classes are limited to 8 students with social distancing, sanitizing all tools, materials and classroom before and after each class. Students are required to sanitize hands prior to entering class and face masks are mandatory at this time. All pickups and drop-off are handled in the back gravel lot facing Sandy Springs Circle, via carpool. We will conduct temperature checks and sanitize hands prior to entering the studio.
Class Cancellation Policy:Â If cancellation is less than two weeks prior to first class, $50 plus credit card fees will be withheld from refunds. After the first class, no fees are refundable. No refunds or credit will be given for missed classes, events or workshops. We reserve the right to cancel classes if the minimum enrollment is not reached; full tuition will be refunded.
